The History of Sacramneto Adventist Academy |
||
| Sacramento Adventist Academy is a coeducational kindergarten through twelfth grade school, operated by the Seventh-day Adventist churches in the Sacramento area to provide Christian education in an environment of academic excellence. | ||
| Sacramento Junior Academy was organized in the Sacramento area in 1948 when the church schools operated by Sacramento Central, Fair Oaks (now Carmichael), Roseville, North Sacramento (now Woodside), and Oak Park churches combined. Fifty‑three acres were purchased on the Winding Way site on which four, two-classroom units of frame and stucco were built. Eleven grades were offered during the 1957-1958 school year. In the fall of 1958 a complete elementary and secondary program was offered and the name was changed to Sacramento Union Academy. | ||

| In 1964, a new secondary unit was opened. The block and stucco building housed four classrooms, a science laboratory, library, administrative offices, and four teacher offices. The auditorium building was remodeled; a room was made available for choir activities and an enlarged area was designated for band. A 17,350 square foot brick and resawn redwood library and administration complex was completed in December of 1973. The former academy unit was remodeled to allow two additional classrooms and five teacher offices. Exterior remodeling for the auditorium, outside lighting, new walks and landscaping was also included during 1973. In 1981, the constituency voted to add a new Home Economics and Science complex to the existing academy classroom building. The Home Economics and Biology classrooms were completed in 1987. In 1985, the constituency voted to change the name of the school to Sacramento Adventist Academy. | ||
