Our high school First Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics program, runs like a corporation, therefore learning from the structure and various functions of running a business, as well as the educational opportunities that come from the design, building and competition related to the robot and robotic competitions. Our FTC company name is Capitals Engineering and this is our 5th year in existence.

This year our team/corporation has done well, providing a great structure for our work, doing well at competitions and providing additional opportunities to learn and grow as a team and individually.

We now have another great learning and growth opportunity ahead. Our team has been invited to attend the SDA North American Teachers’ Convention, to be held in Chicago in August. At this event we will be highlighting the robotics and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program and helping to educate teachers, principals and others that are part of the SDA educational system, about the benefits of establishing STEM and robotics programs at their schools.

We will be using the example of what we have done at SAA and helping others to see the value that they could bring to their school(s) through a similar program. Us students will be manning the booth, sharing information about our program and telling our own story of what robotics and STEM education has meant for us and how it has helped to add to our education. We will also be demonstrating our robot on the competition field, set-up in our exhibit area.
This is a wonderful opportunity to further expand on my leadership and communication skills and just another benefit that this robotics program has brought.

But we need your help to get to Chicago. We are looking to raise $8000 to get members of our team to Chicago to participate in this event and we are looking for support from family and friends. To support our team, you can make a contribution to Sacramento Adventist Academy and, in the memo line, put “Capital Engineers – Chicago Trip.” You can also contribute online here. The money will be credited to our team travel fund and your contribution should be tax deductible. Our school’s Federal Tax ID number is 94-143-1179 and the state number is 800-2903-6.

We really appreciate you considering this donation and helping get members of our team to Chicago. This will be a tremendous learning opportunity for our team.
