Sacramento Adventist Academy (SAA) is a private Seventh-day Adventist pre-kindergarten through 12th grade school providing a high-quality Christian education in the Sacramento area since 1948. Fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, we offer students outstanding opportunities that develop their knowledge, skills and spiritual life through a rigorous core curriculum and a wide array of extracurricular activities. In our safe, healthy, nurturing environment our faculty and staff demonstrate a commitment to developing the entire student within a Christian community with special attention given to academic achievement. Our students graduate well prepared for academic success in high school and college, with a high percentage going on to graduate from some of the nation’s top-rated colleges and universities.

History

Sacramento Junior Academy was organized in the Sacramento area in 1948 when the schools operated by Sacramento Central, Fair Oaks (now Carmichael), Roseville, North Sacramento (now Woodside), and Oak Park Seventh-day Adventist Churches combined. Fifty-three acres were purchased on Winding Way in Carmichael, CA. A year later, a gymnasium was acquired from Beale Air Force Base and re-constructed on the new campus, where it still sits today. At this site stood four, two-classroom buildings where eleven grades were offered during the 1957-1958 school year. In the fall of 1958, a complete elementary and secondary program was offered and the school became Sacramento Union Academy. Since that time, Sacramento Union Academy added four classrooms, a science laboratory, library, administrative offices and four teacher offices. In 1985, the constituency voted to change the name of the school to Sacramento Adventist Academy.

SAA Today

Today, SAA has an average enrollment of over 240 students in preschool through twelfth grades who are served by 32 faculty and staff. Each staff member is committed to providing an environment that allows students to explore and grow spiritually, intellectually, physically and socially. SAA strives to offer a high-quality education that will give students opportunities to become life-long learners who are confident and reflective individuals with a desire to serve their local and global communities.

SAA is characterized by meaningful engagement between students and faculty. Skilled teachers bring the joy of learning to their classrooms every day through challenging, coherent and relevant curriculum. Alumni and students agree that the positive relationships fostered between faculty and students are a hallmark of the educational experience at SAA. While students are held accountable to their performance, they are given tools and resources needed to reach their academic goals. Because of the small class sizes, teachers can adapt to all learning styles with projects, hands-on learning, group learning, field trips and personalized attention. We consistently graduate students exceeding their expected learning levels and our students regularly rank above their grade level on national assessment exams.

Through a wide array of extracurricular activities students can expand their interests and enhance their skills. Our students benefit from leadership opportunities inside and outside the classroom, access to strong music and sports programs, and the support of six constituent churches dedicated to the growth of our students as individuals.
